Colposcopy
Colposcopy is a procedure to closely examine your cervix and vagina for signs of disease. Colposcopy is performed to further evaluate the cervix and vagina following the return of an abnormal pap smear. During colposcopy, a microscope (colposcope) is used to closely examine the cervix and vagina. If Dr. Couri finds an unusual area of cells during colposcopy, a sample of tissue can be collected for laboratory testing (biopsy).
